Why seeing a 3D printer in person changes everything
There's a significant gap between understanding 3D printing conceptually and actually watching a Saturn 4 Ultra lay down a 16K resolution resin print in front of you, or seeing the Neptune 4 Max print a large functional part at 500mm/s. For most people, that gap is what makes the buying decision feel uncertain — not the price, not the specs, but the inability to picture what the machine actually does in real life.
Our Somerset West showroom exists to close that gap. You can walk in, see printers running, hold finished prints in both resin and FDM, and talk to someone who uses these machines every day rather than someone reading from a product page.
What we offer at the showroom
See ELEGOO FDM and resin printers running side by side. We regularly demonstrate the Neptune range for FDM printing and the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K for resin, so you can directly compare how each technology works, what the output looks like, and how involved the process is day to day.
What this answers for most visitors: "Is this actually as complicated as it looks online?" (Usually no.) and "Which type of print quality do I actually need for my project?" — a question that's genuinely hard to answer from a product photo and very easy to answer once you're holding both results.
If you're not sure which printer to buy, our team will help you work through the decision based on your actual use case, volume, budget, and technical comfort level — not just which model is most popular. We stock everything from the Neptune 4 Pro at R6,990 through to the OrangeStorm Giga industrial FDM printer at R63,249, so there's a genuine range to consider rather than a one-size pitch.
You're also welcome to bring your designs, samples, or reference images — we can advise on printability, material choice, and realistic output expectations before you commit to a printer purchase.
Don't own a printer yet, or need a one-off print you don't want to invest in a machine for? Send us your design file and we'll print it professionally using our in-house ELEGOO range. This service suits product prototypes, architectural models, custom gifts, replacement parts, and anything else you need physically produced without the commitment of owning the equipment yourself.
How to get a quote: email your design file and requirements to 3dservices@tonerandink.co.za and we'll respond with pricing and a realistic turnaround time.
If you've bought a 3D printer and aren't quite sure what you're doing yet, or if you're a school, small business, or entrepreneur who wants to learn 3D printing properly from the ground up, we run hands-on training sessions and workshops from the showroom.
Sessions cover the full workflow from digital design through to a finished print, including material selection, slicer setup, and troubleshooting the most common print failures. You leave with a print you made yourself and a working understanding of the process rather than just a theoretical overview.
To enquire about upcoming workshops: email 3dservices@tonerandink.co.za with your experience level and what you'd like to learn.

We're in Somerset West, which puts us within easy reach of Cape Town's southern suburbs, the Winelands corridor, and the broader Western Cape. Same-day delivery is also available in Cape Town for in-stock printers, resins, and filaments if a visit isn't convenient.
Who visits the showroom
Our visitors span a wider range than most people expect from a 3D printing showroom. We regularly see hobbyists researching their first printer, engineers and product designers evaluating prototyping equipment, school teachers exploring what a 3D printer could do for their students, jewellery designers curious about resin printing, and small business owners who need a one-off prototype printed without committing to a machine purchase.
There's no minimum spend required to visit and no obligation to buy. The goal is simply for you to leave better informed than you arrived.
Not in Cape Town? Our Johannesburg branch (011 640 6636) can assist with printer sales, consumables, and general enquiries, and our print-on-demand and consultation services are available nationally via email.
