The most useful thing you can tell us isn't "I want to print a miniature" or "I want a part for my machine." It's what that part or object needs to do, how it will be used, and what constraints it needs to meet. A miniature for display is handled differently from one for a wargaming table that needs to survive regular handling. A bracket that will carry load needs a different material and print orientation than one that's purely cosmetic. The more context you give, the better the recommendation.

If you're replacing a broken part, bring the broken piece or a clear photo showing all angles and dimensions. If you're prototyping a product, a sketch with approximate dimensions tells us more than a verbal description alone. Consultations that start from a physical reference rather than a verbal description skip several back-and-forth steps and get to practical outcomes faster.

Print time, material usage, and cost all scale directly with part size. Knowing whether your part is roughly matchbox-sized, A4-sheet-sized, or larger immediately narrows which printers and materials are relevant and gives us the information we need to provide an accurate quote. You don't need precise measurements — a rough indication is enough to have a meaningful conversation.

A one-off print, a batch of ten for an event, and an ongoing monthly production run are three completely different conversations. For the one-off, print-on-demand with us is almost certainly the right answer. For a reliable monthly volume, the economics may shift toward owning a printer. Being clear about quantity and frequency upfront lets us give you advice that's actually suited to your situation rather than a generic recommendation.

Does the part need to be food-safe? Heat-resistant? Flexible? A specific colour? Painted after printing? These requirements directly determine which technology (FDM or resin) and which material (PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS-like, standard resin, water-washable resin) is appropriate. If you don't know the answers yet, that's fine — the consultation will work through them. But if you do have specific requirements, noting them before you arrive speeds things up considerably.

Knowing whether you're working within a R10,000 budget or are open to a higher-spec machine eliminates the back-and-forth of recommending models that don't fit your constraints. We'll always recommend what's right for your use case rather than what's most expensive — but a budget range gives us a practical starting point.
