Step 1: Do you need to have a 3D file ready?
This is the most common barrier people assume exists — and it's largely a false one. A 3D file (STL or 3MF format) is the most direct path to a quote, because it allows us to run the part through our slicer software and calculate material usage and print time accurately.
But if you don't have a 3D file, you still have options. A clear photograph of the broken or required part — shot from multiple angles, with key dimensions noted — is enough to begin the conversation. For simple geometric parts, we can advise on next steps including referrals to local 3D modelling services if a new file needs to be created. If you have a broken part you want replicated, bringing it into the showroom in Somerset West is also an option — walk-ins are welcome during business hours.
What to include when you email your print enquiry
What happens after you send your enquiry?
We run the file through our slicer software to calculate material, support structure, and print time. If there are issues with the file (non-manifold geometry, wall thickness problems) that affect printability, we flag them before quoting — not after you've confirmed the order.
The quote includes the recommended material, the total cost, and the expected turnaround time. For FDM, turnaround is typically one to three business days from confirmation. For resin, add one business day for the mandatory wash and UV cure step after printing.
On your confirmation we schedule the print. We run FDM jobs on our ELEGOO Neptune 4 Plus or Neptune 4 Max depending on part size, and resin jobs on the ELEGOO Saturn 4 Ultra 16K. You'll be notified when the print is complete and ready for collection or dispatch.

FDM or resin — does it matter which you ask for?
If you're not sure which technology is right for your part, don't worry — we'll recommend based on your use case. The short version: FDM for larger, functional, structural parts; resin for small, highly detailed, or presentation-quality parts.
If your part needs to be functional, strong, and cost-effective: FDM. If your part needs a smooth surface finish, micron-level detail, or is for jewellery casting, dental, or display: resin. No minimum order on any print job. Single prints, small batches, and production runs are all welcome. We don't have a floor on quantity — if you need one part, we'll quote for one part.
