【Super Bounce】

Airless basketball filament is a newly launched product which is completely different from the normal TPU, PLA, and TPC printing and other similar filaments on the market.
The Airless basketball filament has high bounce performance, and is one of the only filaments on the market that is as close as possible to realistic basketball bounce performance.
Airless basketball filament is a special high-bounce filament designated by airless basketball model designers and original authors.

FAQs:

  1. Why does the item I printed not bounce well?
    1. Poor bounce could possibly be caused by an improperly designed STL or 3MF file. The material's bounce is dependent on the design file. It is recommended to use the STL file provided upon purchase of the filament. It is highly recommended when using other designs to ensure that there is a dual-layer, as this is integral to ensure high bouncability.
  2. Why did the printed item crack up so soon?
    1. Normally, the filament will not crack. Please check the print settings. It is usually suggested to use the following:
      1. Outer walls: 4-5 layers
      2. Inner Walls: 4-5 layers
      3. Infill: ≥35%
    2. It is recommended to use an enclosed printer, as fluctuations in temperature and humidity may affect layer adhesion, which will cause prints to crack.
  3. Why is the recommended nozzle sizes 0.5mm - 0.6mm, with a preference for 0.6mm?
    1. The filament is highly flexible on the spool, thus, filament extrusion is susceptible to any accidental external force, which can lead to a decrease in extrusion during printing. Any fluctuation in filament extrusion may result in layer height defects and a drastic decrease in print quality. A larger nozzle ensure the extrusion amount remains relatively stable during printing and slight variances do not greatly affect the print.
    2. Smaller nozzles can be used, but defects are much more likely if the environment is not kept clear of any potential factors that may interfere with the filament during printing.
  4. What to do when the print fails to stick to the build plate / print bed?
    1. Please clean the print bed with a solvent or cleaning agent that can safely remove any residual oils or debris.
    2. Set the bed temperature for the first layer to 80℃ and drop the temperature to 45℃ after the third layer to ensure proper bed adhesion.
  5. How to remove the print if it is stuck to the plate / bed?
    1. Heat the bed to 90℃ first, and then allow enough time for the filament to react to the heat. Please ensure the necessary protective measures are followed to avoid burns from high temperatures.
  6. Why does changing the model scale affect bounce?
    1. The thickness of the print walls and other factors are proportionally scaled to ensure proper bounce. Altering the scale of the model affects these factors in turn, which affects the bounce of the item. The thinner and smaller the walls of the print, the less bounce, as the material can no longer properly disperse the kinetic energy between the layers to ensure a higher output. It is recommended to not scale the model down to less than 60%, as the proportional bounce will be unsatisfactory.
  7. Why is the model not supported or supported too much?
    1. The provided model for the airless basketball is uniquely designed for this filament's specific characteristics. The default printer set in the 3MF file is a Bambu printer. Importing the 3MF into another slice may affect the supports.
    2. When using the STL file, you will need to manually set the supports. It is recommended to only support the bottom of the model, and to ensure no supports are inside the model as well. It is recommended to import the 3MF file into the relevant slicer and edit as required if you are unfamiliar with setting supports manually.
  8. Can this filament only be used to print airless basketballs?
    1. This is a flexible filament designed specifically for use in airless basketball. However, other flexible or bouncing models can be printed using this filament - these features will be affected by the model, such as size, wall thickness, infill, and if the model is proportionally scaled as to be able to properly distribute the kinetic energy for the required task.
  9. What should be done if the filament is damp?
    1. It is recommended to dry at a constant temperature of 50℃ - 60℃ for 6 - 8 hours before printing.
  10. Is this filament safe?
    1. The material of this filament is biodegradable and is non-toxic to the environment and to the human body.
